Swiss software company Abacus Research develops integrated standard business software for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and also works with banks that offer the company’s services to their SME clients. With more than 65'000 customers, Abacus claims to be the market leader in Switzerland.

The subsidiary Abacus Services operates as a consulting company and sales partner in Western Switzerland, supporting businesses with the implementation of the software. By selling the unit to Axept Business Software, Abacus aims to strengthen its partner ecosystem in Western Switzerland and create optimal conditions to further drive growth in a dynamic market environment, the company said in a statement released on Thursday.

All employees to be retained, no disclosure of purchase price

The integration of the business into Axept is scheduled to take effect on 1 April 2026, the statement added. All employees and all customers will be taken over. No details were disclosed regarding the financial terms of the transaction.

The goal is to position the service portfolio uniformly and comprehensively across Switzerland. By outsourcing the consulting business, Abacus Research is restructuring its partner network in Western Switzerland.
