UBS Sells «Bocken» to Swiss Life
UBS has sold the property with the seminar hotel and Bocken estate in Horgen to Swiss Life. The major bank announced on Monday evening that a corresponding agreement had been signed.
This means the historic Bocken is passing from banking to insurance ownership. The property had served as Credit Suisse’s training center since 1993, and when UBS acquired Credit Suisse in 2023, it also inherited this site.
«A Long and Distinguished Tradition»
The last remaining Swiss major bank pays its respects to Bocken one more time before parting ways. After acquiring Credit Suisse, UBS owned two training centers: the UBS Center for Education and Dialogue Wolfsberg, and the Seminarhotel Bocken. «Both centers have a long and distinguished tradition.»
Since reopening in 2020, Wolfsberg has offered significantly greater capacity for UBS seminars and events as well as for third parties, making a second center unnecessary. »For UBS, it was crucial to find a locally rooted owner who would treat the historic property with respect and care. With Swiss Life as the new owner, these goals are fully achieved,» the statement said.
A Satisfied Seller and Buyer
Even Sergio Ermotti, CEO of the UBS Group, commented on the transaction: «We are pleased to have found this solution. It creates the best conditions for all parties involved and for the region, ensuring that this wonderful estate can continue to be operated sustainably in the future».
There was also clear satisfaction on the buyer's side. Matthias Aellig, CEO of the Swiss-Life-Group, said: «We are very pleased to take over this historic estate and to use it for internal events and training purposes. In addition, we plan to open Bocken further to external guests.»
