A recent example of that is the exhibition being held at the Gallerie d’Italia in Turin.

It is the third in a series first launched in 2022 that portrays the great Italian photographers in the 20th century. The first was for Lisetta Carmi (2022), followed by Mimmo Jodice (2023), and now, Antonio Biasiucci.

Italian Metropolis of Photography

The exhibition (image above) comprises more than 250 photographs. The artist's objective is so show a poetic, broad perspective of human life through powerful polyptychs, image sequences and individual works (image below), as the announcement related to the exhibition indicates.

The museum in Turin worked together with museums in Milan, Naples, and Vicenza for the Intesa Sanpaolo project headed by Michele Coppola, the managing director for art and culture. «The Gallerie d'Italia exhibition is an initiative of the highest artistic integrity and cultural value. It should help further establish Turin as the premiere Italian city of photography», Coppola said.

The Big Bang

The deep black that often dominates Biasiucci's photographs requires particular efforts by the viewer in order to recognize the so-called big bank as the source of all life.

The project envisions that each new exhibition will integrate an additional artist. As a result, three monoliths dominate the central room of the exhibition which are the work of Mimmo Paladino, and which intermingle with Biasiucci's work.

Dialogue with the Photographs

The numbers engraved in the black ink are almost in dialogue with the photographs - imaginative forms that represent eternity, anonymity, and the diversity of the human race.
