100 Years of the Trident: Maserati and a Fintech Founder Launch a Tourbillon

One hundred years of the trident: Maserati's iconic emblem made its racing debut at the 1926 Targa Florio in Sicily, where the Maserati Tipo 26 took victory. The symbol draws its inspiration from the Neptune Fountain in Bologna.

The Italian sportscar maker is marking the milestone with an unusual watchmaking collaboration.

A Flying Tourbillon at the Wrist

Unveiled last Friday at Watches and Wonders in Geneva, the «UltraFino Maserati» is the fruit of a partnership between Maserati and Neuchâtel-based Bianchet. The flying tourbillon is limited to 100 numbered pieces — one for each anniversary year.

Present for the announcement were Cristiano Fiorio, chief marketing officer at Maserati, and Rodolfo Festa Bianchet, founder and chief executive of Bianchet. Before entering watchmaking, Festa Bianchet built Turin-based Riflexo, the company behind the trading app Trade Interceptor.

A Brand Born From Fintech

After selling Riflexo, he co-founded Bianchet with his wife, artist Emmanuelle Festa Bianchet. The brand showed its first prototype at Baselworld in 2019 and launched its debut timepiece in 2021.

At the core of the brand's identity: Bianchet was the first watchmaker to design the entire movement and case architecture around the Golden Ratio (1.618) and the Fibonacci sequence.

Supercar Meets Superwatch

The «UltraFino Maserati» takes its design cues from the brand's flagship, the MCPURA — a 630-horsepower supercar with a carbon monocoque chassis that made its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2025.

The open-worked skeleton dial mirrors the spoke design of the MCPURA's wheels, while the «AI Aqua Rainbow» finish creates a visual bridge between watch and car. Case and strap in high-density carbon echo the vehicle's lightweight construction philosophy.

Numbers One and 100 Already Taken

The in-house Bianchet UT01 caliber measures just 3.85 millimeters in height, housing 225 components and 29 jewels. The flying tourbillon cage is 2.66 millimeters thin, beats at 3 Hz, and delivers a 60-hour power reserve. The complete case stands 9.9 millimeters tall and weighs 36 grams without strap. The watch is also rated to withstand shocks of up to 5,000 G.

The watch is listed on Bianchet's website at 75,500 Swiss francs. Pieces number one and 100 were already spoken for before the Geneva launch.

Two Quotes, One Vision

Fiorio summed up the partnership: «With Bianchet, we share a concept — creating objects where iconic design, elegance, and authentic performance coexist in perfect balance. The UltraFino Maserati embodies that harmony.»

Festa Bianchet added: «The UltraFino Maserati is not a watch inspired by a car. It is the meeting point of two objects that speak the same language.»

Test Drive Included

At Watches and Wonders, invited guests were offered the chance to take the MCPURA for a spin — watch on the wrist, naturally.

Watch collaborations are not new territory for Maserati. A little over a decade ago, the brand worked with Bulgari on a collection that was available exclusively to Maserati owners.
