At its Annual General Meeting on 30 March 2026, the Geneva-based private bank Gonet & Cie, which is part of the Arab Bank Switzerland Group, appointed Blaise Goetschin as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Goetschin had previously served as Vice Chairman of the Board. He succeeds Nicolas Gonet, who decided not to seek a new mandate, the bank said in a statement.

Long-Standing Track Record

Goetschin is an experienced banker with a long-standing track record. For 24 years – from 2000 to 2024 – he served as CEO of Banque Cantonale de Genève (BCGE). Prior to that, he worked for Credit Suisse in Zurich, New York and Geneva, headed the Swiss Corporate Finance division, and sat on the boards of several prominent institutions, including the Pfandbriefzentrale of the Swiss Cantonal Banks. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Arab Bank (Switzerland) and Sicpa Holding.

Serge Robin, previously a member of the Board, has been appointed Vice Chairman. Yves Spörri, CEO of Arab Bank (Switzerland), joins the Board as a member.

In addition to the Chairman, the Vice Chairman and Spörri, the Board also includes Nicole Beiner, Sylvie Buhagiar and Omar Kamal.

Remarkable Development

The new Chairman, Goetschin, thanked Gonet for having driven forward the «remarkable development of Gonet Bank» with determination and entrepreneurial spirit. He noted that the bank has established itself as a recognised player in the financial centre in a rapidly changing environment.

«I am now stepping down from my duties at Arab Bank Switzerland and look forward to handing over to experienced individuals,» Gonet said, commenting on his departure. He also expressed confidence in Gonet’s growth potential within the group.

Gonet & Cie SA was founded in 1845 and, according to its own information, employs nearly 200 people in Geneva (headquarters), Cologny, Lausanne, Lugano and Zurich. The private bank is part of the Arab Bank Switzerland Group, which manages nearly 20 billion francs in assets.
