The Geneva-based private bank Lombard Odier has set a new benchmark in sustainable construction with its new global headquarters, «1Roof». The building in Bellevue received the BREEAM «Outstanding» certification and achieved a score of 95,2 percent — the highest ever awarded in Switzerland. BREEAM is regarded as the world’s leading method for assessing the sustainability of real estate. The acronym stands for «Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method».

Further Certification Expected

Since its inauguration in September 2025, the headquarters has also received the Minergie-P and THPE labels. According to a statement released on Wednesday, SNBS certification is expected shortly.

Designed by Herzog & de Meuron, the building brings together all of the group’s teams under one roof and combines architectural quality with high energy efficiency and innovative sustainability solutions. These include a connection to Geneva’s GeniLac system, which uses lake water for heating and cooling, a 750 square meter photovoltaic installation, and a comprehensive rainwater management system.

Highest Standards Implemented

«Sustainability has been an integral part of our identity since our founding,» said Managing Partner Alexandre Meyer. The BREEAM award represents significant recognition of the group’s commitment to innovation and sustainable development.

From the perspective of the sustainability team, the project also marks a milestone. «We have consistently implemented the highest standards across all areas — from material selection and energy supply to circular economy principles,» said Ebba Lepage, Group Head of Corporate Sustainability.

In addition to technical excellence, Lombard Odier has also placed strong emphasis on the working environment. The building offers light-filled open-space areas, generous collaboration zones, and direct views of Lake Geneva and the Alps. At the same time, the location is well connected to public transport and promotes sustainable mobility with more than 400 bicycle parking spaces.
