Thomas Jordan Adds Another Mandate

Today, Nestlé — the global giant producing food not only for people but also for dogs and cats — presented its full-year 2025 results along with a strategic update. For shareholders of the SMI heavyweight, part of Switzerland’s blue-chip benchmark index, this is important news. It comes against the backdrop of a period in which Nestlé has generated rather unflattering headlines (something quite unusual for the «Veveysan»), relating to its business performance, leadership personnel and products.

For Switzerland’s financial community, however, even more relevant was the announcement made on Wednesday evening, in which the globally active, Vevey-based food group revealed changes to its Board of Directors. In addition to Fama Francisco, Head of Global Baby, Feminine and Family Care at Procter & Gamble (P&G), Thomas Jordan is also set to be elected to the board at the Annual General Meeting on April 16.

Extensive Financial Market Experience and Sound Economic Expertise

The former Chairman of the Governing Board of the Swiss National Bank hardly requires an introduction in Switzerland. The statement in the press release that he possesses extensive experience in international financial markets and macroeconomics is certainly no exaggeration.

Only a few days ago, it was announced that Jordan is to become Chairman of the Foundation Board of the Institute for Swiss Economic Policy (IWP) at the University of Lucerne.

A Series of Mandates

Since he has already been a member of the Board of Directors of insurer Zurich since April 2025, became Senior Advisor at asset manager Muzinich in June, and was appointed «Distinguished Fellow» of the think tank Avenir Suisse in November, finews recently took the opportunity to ask whether Jordan now feels sufficiently occupied or remains open to further challenges. The answer has now become clear.

With the Nestlé mandate, Jordan is taking on his first role outside the financial market and the liberal network. His predecessor’s predecessor as Swiss National Bank president, Jean-Pierre Roth, also served on Nestlé’s Board of Directors for several years (2010 to 2019) following his resignation.
