The think tank Avenir Suisse is honouring long-time SNB President Thomas Jordan for his contributions to Switzerland. To mark its 25th anniversary, the organisation is launching a new fellowship programme in which prominent figures will contribute their expertise and networks.

Avenir Suisse has named former Swiss National Bank (SNB) President Thomas Jordan as its first Distinguished Fellow. With this appointment, the think tank recognises his outstanding achievements and his commitment to a stable and forward-looking Switzerland.

The newly created fellowship programme aims to honour leading figures from politics, academia and society who have rendered exceptional service to the country. The fellows are also expected to act as catalysts and ambassadors for Avenir Suisse’s mission.

Shaping Switzerland’s Monetary Policy

Thomas Jordan served on the SNB’s Governing Board for 17 years, including twelve years as its chairman. During this period, he played a key role in shaping Switzerland’s monetary and currency policy. He also represented the country at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and the Financial Stability Board (FSB).

«Thomas Jordan has earned great merit through his tireless service to Switzerland and has an outstanding track record,» said Jürg Müller, Director of Avenir Suisse. Jordan himself noted that he looks forward to contributing to Avenir Suisse’s work as a Distinguished Fellow.

With the new fellowship programme launched on its anniversary, Avenir Suisse is strengthening its network and reaffirming its ambition to develop innovative ideas for Switzerland’s future.

Jordan was recently also appointed to the Board of Directors of the Swiss insurer Zurich.
