Prominent Departure at the Top of Swissquote

Markus Dennler, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Swissquote, will not stand for re-election at the upcoming Annual General Meeting, the institution announced on Thursday.

Dennler has been a member of the Board since 2005. He has served as Chairman since 2019; during this period, Swissquote’s market capitalization has increased more than tenfold.

He will reach the age limit next year and is therefore stepping down.

The Board of Directors is proposing Hans-Rudolf Köng as his successor. Köng has been a member of the Board since May of this year. He brings extensive knowledge and experience in banking and finance, the statement said. Among other roles, Köng served as CEO of PostFinance for twelve years.

«It has been a privilege to contribute to Swissquote’s remarkable growth in recent years. After more than 20 years on the Board of Directors, now is the right time to pass the baton,» Dennler said.

Swissquote co-founder Marc Bürki described Dennler as an «exceptional Chairman of the Board»: «His leadership skills and strategic expertise have been instrumental in Swissquote’s success.»
