Massive Fitness & Spa Club Rises in the Heart of Zurich City
finews.com visited the site: amid the noise and scaffolding, finding the Holmes Place entrance on the fifth and sixth floors isn’t easy. Yet inside, the club remains buzzing — bringing activity and light to a property otherwise deserted since Jelmoli’s closure.
The long-established fitness and spa club, which has operated here since 1999, currently counts more than 3,000 members, including many finance professionals from the Bahnhofstrasse who come for their workouts or post-office massages.

Long-Term Commitment to Zurich
Club manager Veronika Leidescher says the lease has been extended for another 20 years. The company sees its Bahnhofstrasse location as a permanent and increasingly important part of its future, combining gym, spa, relaxation, and co-working spaces under one roof.
Holmes Place plans a complete renovation and expansion of the former Jelmoli premises by 2028, adding a 200-square-meter outdoor terrace for open-air workouts. In 2026, the first stage — the temporary Journey Club — will open, featuring extended spa areas, cutting-edge training technology, and a covered balcony of the same size.
Fitness, Recovery, Co-working
Two years later will come the final Destination Club — an even larger and more lifestyle-oriented upgrade. Membership fees range from 175 to 230 francs per month, placing Holmes Place firmly in Zurich’s premium fitness segment. Operations will continue seamlessly throughout the renovation.

New Life in the Former Jelmoli
While the Jelmoli building is being redesigned, the club’s daily operations continue almost undisturbed. The reconstruction is taking place in phases, using recycled materials and soundproofed partitions — a delicate balance between ongoing business, construction work, and future vision.
«Holmes Place Zurich City Jelmoli is evolving into a space for an active lifestyle that fits every goal — a place to shape and enjoy life in all its facets,» says Blaise Languin, CEO of Holmes Place Switzerland and Austria.
