Alpian Reports Milestone in Customer Growth

Alpian has reached the milestone of 25'000 clients, the digital bank announced on Thursday. Launched three years ago, Alpian set out to serve the mass affluent segment.

This segment generally refers to clients with investable liquid assets between around USD 100'000 and 1 million, as well as above-average household income.

Currently, the bank reports a customer retention rate above 90 percent and a growing share of new clients acquired through referrals. Alpian continues to expand its offering, combining digital banking, investments starting at CHF 2'000, and pension solutions.

Disciplined Growth

»After three years, we have proven that our offering is relevant to the Swiss market,» said CEO Gianmarco Bonaita. «Our focus remains on disciplined growth and the continuous improvement of our unit economics quarter by quarter.»

Recent innovations include a redesigned mobile app, eBill integration, and a pillar 3a pension product featuring BlackRock funds.

Over the past twelve months, revenue has increased sixfold, while customer acquisition costs have fallen by 84 percent, according to the company.

Loss in the Previous Year

In 2024, Alpian reported a net loss of CHF 29,4 million, primarily due to high acquisition costs — compared with a loss of CHF 23,1 million the year before.

The online bank currently employs 111 staff, mainly in Geneva, Lausanne, and Zurich. It collaborates with American Express on its card products, and Twint integration is planned for 2026.

Alpian is majority-owned by Fideuram – Intesa Sanpaolo Private Banking, making it part of the Italian Intesa Sanpaolo Group.
