Frankencoin Climbs Mt Pelerin

The Frankencoin Association, based in Zug, announced on Wednesday a strategic integration with Geneva-based platform Mt Pelerin. This allows users to seamlessly buy and sell the decentralized franc stablecoin (ZCHF) directly against fiat currencies, 24/7.

The move aims to improve the accessibility of Frankencoin and its integration into Mt Pelerin’s infrastructure — all without a traditional bank account.

Bridging Two Worlds

«We are grateful for this partnership with Mt Pelerin, which is the leading native Swiss fiat-crypto gateway,» said Johannes Kern, Managing Director of the Frankencoin Association, in an interview with finews.com. «This cooperation bridges the best of both worlds: The traditional strength of the Swiss franc with Mt Pelerin’s leading crypto infrastructure, including integration of Swiss QR-bill payments and soon also a personal IBAN.»

Frankencoin (ZCHF) is already accepted as a means of payment at Spar supermarkets in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Self-Custodied Setup

Through the integration, users can flexibly switch between traditional currencies and ZCHF in a fully self-custodied setup. In the coming weeks, it will also be possible to receive a personal Swiss IBAN for incoming bank payments to a ZCHF wallet. Incoming transfers can then be automatically converted into ZCHF. With the QR-bill feature, Swiss invoices can be paid directly in Frankencoin — no bank account required.

According to Kern, Frankencoin currently offers an interest rate of 3 percent, paid out in Frankencoins and funded by the earnings that also accumulate within the Frankencoin system.

Market Cap of 25 Million Francs

He also emphasized that the stablecoin market remains heavily dominated by the US dollar — with a market share of over 98 percent — followed by euro-based stablecoins and then Frankencoin, which currently has a market capitalization of around 25 million francs.

Arnaud Salomon, CEO of Mt Pelerin, added: «Frankencoin fits perfectly with our vision. It is a key tool to democratize self-custody in Switzerland and internationally.»
