Bang at Bendura Bank: CEO Has to Leave, Successor Appointed

Markus Federspiel will step down as CEO of Bendura Bank on June 30, 2025.

According to a press release, this decision was not entirely voluntary, with the departure attributed to «differences of opinion regarding the strategic prioritization of the bank, particularly in Asia».

Significant Drop in Profits

This step does not come as a complete surprise. Last September, the Lichtenstein-based financial insitution had to announce a significant drop in profits for the first half of the year, as reported by finews.ch. In the first six months of the current year, Bendura bank generated a profit of 5,9 million Swiss francs, compared to 7 million francs in the same period of the previous year.

At the time, the bank reported an «exceptionally high inflow of new money», without specifying this in more detail; there were net cash ourflows in 2022 und 2023.

Successor Comes from Own Ranks

The Board of Directors now wants to turn things around. At its meeting on Wednesday, it appointed Philipp Forster as Markus Federspiel's successor and new CEO.

Forster has worked at Bendura Bank for 10 years in various functions in Switzerland and abroad and has been a member of the Executive Board since 2022. According to the press release, he also has many years of experience in the Asian market and was responsible for its development.

Forster will intensify the expansion in Europe and Asia.

Markus Federspiel spent 16 years at Bendura Bank, including 6 years as a member of the Executive Board and 3 years as CEO.
