Taurus and Aktionariat Want to Boost Trading in Tokenised SMEs

The Swiss fintech Taurus and the platform Aktionariat are collaborating to tokenize selected stocks on the Ethereum blockchain. One of the first securities to be tradeable in this form on the Taurus Digital Exchange (TDX) will be RealUnit, as stated in the announcement released on Thursday.

This partnership, set to take effect in November, brings together Aktionariat's expertise in tokenizing shares of Swiss companies with Taurus’s trading technology designed for institutional investors. By granting both institutional and retail investors access to the TDX network, the partnership aims to increase liquidity and boost value for tokenized small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and their shareholders.

Improving Access to the Private Capital Market

Murat Ögat, CEO of Aktionariat, commented: «While we already offer tools that facilitate the sale and limited informal trading of security tokens, there is a lack of licensed marketplaces for them. Taurus fills this gap with its digital marketplace.»

Victor Busson, CMO at Taurus, added: «By combining Aktionariat's expertise with our TDX marketplace, we are helping to create a robust ecosystem for issuers and investors alike. This collaboration demonstrates how tokenization can enhance liquidity and accessibility in the private capital market.»

RealUnit Ready to Launch

One of the first tokenized SMEs to be approved for trading on TDX under this partnership is RealUnit Schweiz, an investment company focused on real assets. RealUnit had already tokenized its registered shares with Aktionariat in April 2022, allowing investors to hold the tokens with any Ethereum-based crypto wallet. However, investors can also choose traditional bearer shares, which are listed on BX Swiss. Taurus and Aktionariat expect additional companies to follow by 2025.

«The approval for trading on TDX is a natural next step in our journey to enhance accessibility and liquidity for our investors. This move perfectly aligns with our goal to facilitate access to actively managed real asset investments,» stated Dani Stüssi, CEO of RealUnit Schweiz.

Tension Between TDX and SDX

Founded in 2020, Aktionariat describes itself as the leading Swiss tokenization platform, with over 70 tokenized Swiss companies and more than 30'000 users as clients. The platform also has a partnership with the SIX Digital Exchange (SDX), a competitor of Taurus and TDX.

Founded in 2018, the fintech company Taurus operates the TDX and also provides infrastructure solutions for banks for the issuance, custody, and trading of digital assets, including cryptocurrencies, tokenized assets, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and digital currencies.
