Complementa Changes Hands Once Again
Effective July 26, 2024, Zürcher Kantonalbank has acquired Complementa, as announced by the institution on Monday. ZKB has had a collaboration with Complementa since 2006.
With the acquisition of the St. Gallen-based investment specialist, ZKB aims to strengthen its Custody Services division. This division includes global custody and asset administration as well as investment reporting.
Institutional Investors in Focus
«The acquisition of this provider, particularly specialized in investment reporting, now allows us to offer investment reporting internally and further develop it for our clients,» said Stephanino Isele, Head of Institutionals & Multinationals at ZKB. «We aim to strengthen our offerings in a crucial area for institutional investors in the Swiss market.»
ZKB plans to invest in the company and specifically in investment reporting as a professional analysis tool for institutional clients and high-net-worth individuals.
Eventful History
Complementa will remain independent according to further information. Employees will retain their positions. There are no plans for job cuts or task transfers to ZKB. The headquarters of Complementa will remain in St. Gallen.
In the company's eventful history, the globally active State Street Bank acquired the group in 2011, and a year later, Heinz B. Rotacher took over the management. It was he who «bought out» Complementa in a management buyout in 2016, as reported by finews.ch.
Complementa Appoints New CEO
Heinz B. Rothacher, previously the CEO of Complementa, will continue to serve on the company's board of directors starting September 1. Simultaneously, Markus Wirth, currently Head of Custody at ZKB, will take over as the new CEO of Complementa.
