AXA Switzerland Recruits New Chief Risk Officer From Germany

AXA Switzerland has appointed Monika Wieneke as the new head of «Risk, Actuarial & Security» and a member of the executive board, effective September 1. She takes over the position from Volker Reinthaler, who was appointed chief financial officer of the insurer in February.

Since 2020, Wieneke has been the chief risk officer and head of Value Risk Management at AXA Germany, according to a statement released on Thursday. There, she distinguished herself by developing differentiated risk strategies, fostering an integrated risk culture, and conducting holistic assessments of climate risks.

Career in consulting

The 43-year-old mathematician and actuary worked for around 15 years at the consulting firm Willis Towers Watson before joining AXA Germany in 2020, as noted on her LinkedIn profile. At Willis Towers Watson, she specialized in risk management for insurance companies, AXA further notes.

Wieneke is described as an integrative personality with extensive international experience, significant expertise in risk management, and a strong strategic mindset.

«After many capable colleagues from AXA Switzerland have repeatedly moved to responsible positions in other AXA units in recent years, I am pleased that we can benefit from the group's talent pool this time,» commented AXA Switzerland CEO Fabrizio Petrillo on the personnel decision.
