Swedish SEB Opens Service Center For Family Offices in Zurich

SEB plans to open a location in Zurich next autumn where family offices and entrepreneurial families based in Switzerland can take advantage of administrative and other non-financial services as well as office space. The bank also intends to open a representative office at the same location.

«The number of Northern European entrepreneurial families residing in Switzerland has risen sharply in recent years,» said William Paus, Head of SEB's Private Wealth Management & Family Office Division.

Concierge Service

«Many of them have expressed a desire for advice and support on practical issues. That's why we want to create an environment where they can come together,» Paus added.

Like the year SEB was founded, the new company will be named 1856 Family Office. At the new location, various types of services will be offered, such as the search and evaluation of firms for accounting, accounting, legal advice, administrative support, and a concierge service, as was further learned.

Uniting Northern European Community in Zurich

In addition, 1856 Family Office will provide an office environment where clients can rent space to network and share experiences with other families and wealthy individuals.

SEB wants to unite the Northern European community in Switzerland by making the Zurich office the central point of contact for support activities.

Representative Office

In addition to 1856 Family Office and subject to approval by the Swiss regulator, SEB aims to open a representative office from which it will offer financial services currently carried out from other countries.

«With this initiative, SEB will become the first Swedish bank with a representative office in Zurich, and the first Nordic bank to offer non-financial services in Switzerland through its business unit,» said Ole Hamre, Head of International Business of the PWM&FO division and Head of SEB in Luxembourg. 1856 Family Office is scheduled to open in autumn 2024 with two to three employees.
