«Leadership: Six Studies in World Strategy» by Henry Kissinger

What is the book about:

Henry Kissinger describes how Konrad Adenauer, Charles de Gaulle, Richard Nixon, Anwar Sadat, Lee Kwan Yuo and Margret Thatcher used personal leadership to steer nations and societies on a particular course, which was not necessarily in line with the general opinion of the time. In addition to personal conviction, the ability and patience to convince others were decisive factors.

Why I recommend this book:

62862067n1The latest book by one of the most astute analysts of geopolitical developments is highly interesting and very timely. It raises the question of whether our current understanding of politics and the way we use information would even permit a style of politics as conducted at the time of the people described. Particularly thought-provoking in view of the current discussion about how to handle an aggressive Russian government, are Konrad Adenauer's remarks, as are Charles de Gaulle's. Two leaders with a clear language and compass.
