What is the book about:
This book was recommended to me in the depths of China by the volunteers of an association working for the most destitute, and who, although not religious, finally found in this book a true treatise on ecology, for the safeguarding of our common home.
It is a disturbing book about western ways of life, reminding us that the book of nature is unique and indivisible, that we cannot imagine human freedom without limits, that everything in the world is linked, that when we consume only for ourselves, we waste the resources of creation. The environment is a collective good, the heritage of all humanity, the responsibility of all, and whoever appropriates something must administer it for the good of all. Finally, when 20 percent of the world's population consumes 80 percent of the resources, are we not robbing the poorest and future generations of what they will need to survive?
Why I recommend this book:
A must-read book to start looking for other ways to understand the economy and progress, to look at the culture of waste, to get out of our dominator of nature behavior, or of pure exploiter of resources, unable to set limits to its immediate interests.
