Juerg Zeltner: The Toughest Job on Earth

 Juerg Zeltner 512

He initially wanted to be a vet, but decided against university and hired on at Swiss Bank Corporation (one of the predecessor banks to UBS). In 33 years at the Swiss bank, he rose through the ranks to run the flagship private banking arm – before exiting suddenly 14 months ago.

Since then, Zeltner's name is routinely proffered when there is a wealth management CEO job going. The 51-year-old hasn't surfaced yet, which may be a reflection of his choosiness, or that he comes up short in a key qualification for private banks today: ample experience in digitization.

finews.com's prediction: the longer Zeltner waits, the more difficult it becomes for him to win another top job. Wealth management is changing at a rapid pace. He may pop up at another private bank, but has dropped heavy hints that he prefers to go the tech route.
