Tequila Winter Cup: February Drink With a Twist
That was exactly my thought when I recently found myself in Berlin, where I had the pleasure of meeting Simon Difford and his charming wife Paloma from Difford’s Guide. Anyone interested in cocktails and premium indulgence is bound to come across Difford’s Guide. Their platform is one of the largest and most comprehensive sources for classic and modern cocktail recipes – and it was there that I first discovered the Tequila Fruit Cup (Difford’s Cup No. 7).
The Kinley Ginger Ale from Coca-Cola’s product portfolio is a perfect match for this drink.
Complexity and Enjoyment
We talked about trends, developments in the bar scene, and, of course, what’s exciting in the world of drinks and mixology for 2025. A major topic: the balance between alcohol and flavors. Today’s guests don’t just want «more alcohol»—they seek a multi-layered taste experience, a drink that combines complexity and enjoyment without being overwhelming.
That makes it the perfect time to reinterpret the Tequila Fruit Cup for February with a wintery touch. While the classic version is known for its summery, fresh notes, this month’s edition has been crafted to embrace warming, spicy, and seasonal elements—just right for the transition from winter to spring.
Its highlight? The presentation!
Ingredients for the Tequila Winter Cup:
… 5 cl Tequila Reposado (smooth & spicy – ideal for colder days)
… 2.5 cl red vermouth (such as Carpano Antica – for depth and warmth)
… 2.5 cl Triple Sec (orange liqueur for a fruity note)
… 2 dashes orange bitters (enhancing the wintery aromas)
… 100 ml Ginger Ale from Kinley
… Garnish: orange slice, rosemary sprig, pomegranate seeds
Preparation:
- Take a frozen highball glass from the freezer.
- Add a few fresh ice cubes.
- Pour in tequila, vermouth, Triple Sec, and orange bitters.
- Top up with ginger ale and stir gently.
- Garnish with an orange slice and a rosemary sprig.
Cheers to February!
The Tequila Winter Cup is the perfect drink for the month after Dry January—fruity, wintery, and with a hint of anticipation for spring. And who knows? It might even inspire you to explore more recipes from Difford’s Guide.
Enjoy mixing—here’s to a delightful February!
