New Leadership at BLKB

Alexandra Scriba will take over as CEO of BLKB as of 1 May 2026, bringing her extensive expertise in the banking sector and her proven leadership experience to the bank’s continued development, according to a statement released on Wednesday.

Scriba previously held various management roles at Zürcher Kantonalbank, most recently serving as Head of Institutional Clients & Multinationals from 2023 until the end of April 2026, and before that as Head of Direct Banking.

Former Endurance Athlete

The 48-year-old Swiss national holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Zurich and has completed, among other programs, the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. The former triathlete and long-distance runner grew up in the canton of Aargau and will reside in Liestal from May.

Alexandra Scriba succeeds Christoph Schär, who has been serving as interim CEO since 1 August 2025. After a short handover period, he will return to his previous role as Head of Technology and Corporate Services in summer 2026.

During a challenging period, he has led the bank’s operations as interim CEO with dedication, great expertise and a clear focus.»

Broad Experience

The Government Council of the canton of Basel-Landschaft has also appointed Thomas Aegerter as the new Chairman of the Bank Council of BLKB, effective 1 July 2026. Aegerter has many years of broad experience in banking leadership and governance, most recently demonstrated in his role at UBS as Head of Sales Management Personal. The 55-year-old Swiss currently runs a consulting firm, is a board member of the Chamber of Commerce of both Basel, a member of the foundation board of the FHNW Foundation, and serves on the municipal council in his hometown of Ettingen, where he oversees finance and IT. He will take over the role from Thomas Bauer, who has served as interim Chairman since 1 September 2025.

At the same time, the Government Council expressed its thanks to Thomas Bauer for his interim leadership of the Bank Council and welcomed his willingness to remain on the board in a transitional capacity until the end of the current term of office on 30 June 2027.
