Postfinance Introduces Extended Executive Board

Postfinance, which together with UBS, Zürcher Kantonalbank and Raiffeisen is considered one of Switzerland’s systemically important banks, will introduce an Extended Executive Board (eEB) as of 1 March. In addition to the members of the regular eight-member Executive Board – which retains overall operational responsibility – the new body will include Patrick Rousseau, Head of Segment & Sales Steering, and Roger Hug, Head of Innovation Steering.

According to a statement released on Thursday, the eEB will be responsible for the «integrated management of client business, innovation initiatives and financial aspects.» The aim is to strengthen the «holistic corporate management» in line with the Postfinance Strategy 2025–2028. Strategic direction, priorities and resources are to be «aligned even more consistently.»

Instrument for Integrated Corporate Management

Postfinance CEO Beat Röthlisberger explained: «With the eEB, we are bringing together at Executive Board level everything required for integrated corporate management – and ensuring that strategy and execution are consistently interlinked.»

The new eEB bears some resemblance to a body at another, equally Swiss institution. At the Swiss National Bank, the Extended Governing Board consists of the members of the Governing Board and their deputies and is responsible for issuing strategic guidelines for operational management.
