Banks Have More Vacancies to Fill
The number of vacancies at Swiss banks increased in August, according to the regular survey conducted by the AWP news agency together with the job portal Indeed, which tracks the websites of the ten largest banks.
In August, there were 550 job postings. Compared with the previous month, this represents an increase of almost 10 percent and marks the highest level of the past three months.
Apprenticeships and internships are not included in the survey. When these are taken into account, the number of advertised positions rises to 607, the highest figure since March of this year.
Banking Sector Still on Course for Staff Reductions
The survey shows that almost all banks posted more vacancies, with only two institutions recording a slight decline.
However, the currently somewhat improved labor market situation for bank employees cannot disguise the fact that the sector as a whole is still reducing staff capacity, the report continued. Last year, the number of vacancies was still significantly higher, at 759. And in the summer of 2023, the volume of job postings was around 40 percent above the current level.
