Swiss Premium Chocolatier Accelerates Global Expansion
In Hannover, Läderach has opened its 100th chocolatier in Europe – the 25th in Germany, according to a press release issued last Friday.
Worldwide, the Glarus-based company now operates over 220 boutiques, including nearly 60 in the U.S. Four years ago, Läderach took over the lease agreements of all 34 American stores previously run by Belgian competitor Godiva.
Focus on Asia
The international expansion continues: planned openings in Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, and Indonesia are on the horizon. At the same time, Läderach is commissioning a third production site in Bilten, in the canton of Glarus.
CEO Johannes Läderach, who runs the company in the third generation together with his brothers, recently addressed the new challenges in the U.S. market in a LinkedIn post.
Statement on U.S. Tariffs
«I cannot change the tariffs,» wrote Läderach. «It is only human to get angry about them, inquire about who's guilt they are or be discouraged. But none of these options change anything, so I better pray for serenity to accept it.»
His answer to the crisis: efficiency gains, supply chain optimizations, and an acceleration of innovation. «American consumers buy us not for our price but for our uniquely fresh chocolate experience,» he emphasized.
Commitment to Swissness
Even under difficult conditions, Läderach wants to uphold quality, Swissness, and the customer experience – and to see every crisis as an opportunity.
