What is the first thing you do in the morning?

Enjoy a coffee while taking in the breathtaking natural landscape of the Engadin, feeling deeply grateful to live and work here.

What is the best thing about your job?

The liveliness, the great versatility, the relationship with people at all levels and the opportunity to shape things.

A moment that changed your life?

The birth of my children.

What car do you drive? What is your favorite?

I am an Audi woman and have been driving an Audi S3 for decades.

What advice would you give your 20-year-old-self?

To have patience and trust, knowing that many things are still possible and that outcomes often unfold differently than expected.

What are you particularly proud of?

That I always pursued what is important to me – and of our wonderful Hotel maistra 160.

What was your biggest defeat?

That I still haven’t found out what keeps giving me headaches.

What is your favorite wine?

Franciacorta or a good sparkling wine from the Bündner Herrschaft.

What are you working on at the moment?

Strengthening the further development of the Deep Health positioning at Hotel Maistra 160 with offerings inspired by Mind-Body Medicine.

What is most important to you at the moment?

The successful development of the Hotel Maistra 160.

What would be the biggest surprise for someone taking over your job for a day?

How quickly the day goes by.

What is your personal motivation?

I am fully aware that I alone am responsible for shaping my life and that time to make a difference is limited. That awareness drives me with great determination.

What are you afraid of?

That one day I will have to say goodbye to my loved ones.

What is your favorite watch brand?

I don’t have a watch.

What do your employees value the most about you?

That they can learn something from us and that I am appreciative, balanced, open and approachable and also set clear guidelines.

Your best investment?

The Hotel Maistra 160 and individual works of art.


Bettina Plattner-Gerber is a hotelier and entrepreneur. Alongside her husband, Richard Plattner, she is the initiator, concept developer and owner of the Hotel Maistra 160 in Pontresina. As Plattner & Plattner, they are responsible for the entire company, which operates the alpinelodging brand with 20 hotel-like vacation apartments and the Hotel Maistra 160 as well as the plattner & plattner Art Gallery. They are involved in tourism and serve on various committees and boards of directors.
