Ex-UBS Executive Takes Top Role at Foreign Bank
Simon Grossenbacher will become Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Dutch private bank Van Lanschot Kempen in Switzerland in early February 2025, according to finews.com.
A company spokesperson confirmed the news last Friday, adding that Grossenbacher will join the bank as early as December 2024 to begin his onboarding. The appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
A Quarter-Century at UBS
Grossenbacher, a well-known figure in the financial sector, boasts more than 27 years of experience, 25 of which were at UBS, where he held various senior roles.
Most recently, he served as CEO of Sound Capital, one of Switzerland's largest independent asset managers, where he successfully led a regulatory transformation. Grossenbacher holds an EMBA from ETH Zurich and the University of St. Gallen.
30 Years in Switzerland
Van Lanschot Kempen is relatively less known in Switzerland. Founded in Zurich in 1995, the Dutch foreign bank has become the leading wealth manager for internationally focused Dutch and Belgian clients.
It is the only Dutch bank in Switzerland with offices in Zurich and Geneva and employs about 40 people with assets under management (AuM) of around 3 billion euros. As of mid-2024, group-wide, the bank managed nearly 140 billion euros in AuM and recorded 5.7 billion euros in net inflows during this year's first half.
