Ina Invest and Cham Group Explore Merger

The two real estate companies, Ina Invest and Cham Group, are in talks about a potential merger. According to a statement released on Monday, the boards of directors of both companies have signed a letter of intent regarding the merger.

The discussions are still in an early stage. If an agreement is reached, shareholders of both companies will be able to vote on the merger during the ordinary general meetings in spring 2025. Cham Group shares are traded over-the-counter, while Ina Invest shares are listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange. Shares of the new combined entity are also expected to be publicly traded.

According to the announcement, the merger would create one of Switzerland’s leading real estate companies, with a high-quality and sustainable portfolio at prime locations, including a residential share of over 50 percent. The income-generating properties and development projects of Ina Invest and Cham Group are located in Basel, Cham, Geneva, Lausanne, Winterthur, and Zurich, focusing on «the most economically strong metropolitan regions of Switzerland.»

Ina Invest was spun off from the construction company Implenia and currently holds one of the largest and most promising development portfolios in Switzerland, according to the company. Implenia, which owns approximately 40 percent of Ina Invest, has expressed support for the ongoing discussions.

Cham Group is focused on the development of the Papieri site in the center of Cham, where a new 11-hectare district is planned, offering around 1,000 residential units and workspaces by 2035.
