He will succeed Michael Eicher, who has decided to pursue a new challenge outside the bank. Until Reto Calonder takes up his position, the St. Gallen branch will be managed on an interim basis by Claude Lüthi, Head of Aargau/Solothurn and Foundations at Julius Bär, according to a statement.
Extensive knowledge of the local market
Reto Calonder has over 30 years of experience in the financial industry. From 1991 until today – with a brief two-year interruption – he held various specialist and leadership roles primarily in wealth management at UBS and its predecessor, the Swiss Bank Corporation, in Eastern Switzerland. For the past ten years, he has served as Head of Ultra High Net Worth, Executive & Entrepreneurs, and Head of the Desk for Lawyers, Trustees, and Notaries, as well as Deputy Head of Wealth Management Eastern Switzerland at UBS Switzerland in St. Gallen.
Patrick Prinz, Head of the Swiss Market at Julius Bär, says: «Reto Calonder has an excellent track record, extensive leadership experience, and deep knowledge of the local market and the needs of our clientele on-site. This makes him the ideal candidate to continue our successful path in Eastern Switzerland.»
