Western Union Takes Over Swiss Branches of Competitor

Western Union, a global player in money transfers and payments, will reopen 14 branches of the money transfer service provider Small World under its own brand starting at the end of August. The company announced this on Wednesday.

Small World had to close its branches due to bankruptcy. The money transfer service provider operated branches in all major cities in Switzerland, including Zurich, Geneva, Basel, Bern, and Lugano.

«I am particularly pleased that by reopening the 14 locations, we are preserving more than 50 jobs,» said Evelyn Herl, Head of the DACHL region for Western Union.

The reopening of the 14 locations is expected to be completed by September of this year.
