Berner Kantonalbank: Profit Slightly Declines
In the first half of 2024, Berner Kantonalbank reported a profit of 75,3 million francs, which is 0,4 percent less than the previous year, according to figures published on Wednesday. However, 2023 was a record year.
This is reflected, among other things, in the interest business. Net interest income is 3,3 percent lower than in the same period last year. On the other hand, the bank achieved a 7,2 percent increase in the commission and service business, primarily due to securities and investment operations.
Customer deposits grew by 0,5 percent to 27,2 billion francs. In terms of customer loans, Berner Kantonalbank reached a volume of 29,2 billion francs (+1,6 percent), of which mortgage claims amount to 27,3 billion francs (+2,0 percent).
Further Expansion
The operating result was increased to 118,0 million francs (+1,9 percent). Operating expenses rose by 3,4 percent, which, according to the announcement, is due to investments in strategic projects in the first half of the year.
Berner Kantonalbank intends to continue capitalizing on growth opportunities, including in regional private banking. Recently, the bank established new key client teams in the city of Bern and recruited former Credit Suisse employees, as reported by finews.com.
