Berner Kantonalbank Expands Private Banking With CS Team

The Berner Kantonalbank (BEKB) is expanding its private banking services with a new team starting at its Bern-Bundesplatz headquarters in early August. The team will be led by Markus Mühlheim and Michael Honegger, the bank announced on Monday.

Mühlheim and Honegger are joining BEKB along with Rosa Cardinale Rohner, Urs Rentsch, Marc Rohrer, and Oscar Rodriguez from Credit Suisse (CS).

Familiar with the Region

The four new hires form a well-established team with extensive local knowledge, according to BEKB's statement. Markus Mühlheim, based in Ittingen, has advised private clients for 23 years and was responsible for private banking in Bern at CS. Michael Honegger from Bremgarten most recently managed the branches in Muri and Thun. Rosa Cardinale Rohner, residing in Schönbühl, spent 27 years at CS, many of them in private banking. Urs Rentsch, living in Stettlen, also worked in private banking at CS for over 20 years. Marc Rohrer from Kirchberg supported private clients in Burgdorf for 11 years. Oscar Rodriguez, based in Bäriswil, was with CS for over 20 years.

Building on Recent Moves

With this new team, BEKB aims to reinforce its strategic focus within the private banking market of cantons Bern and Solothurn.

In June, BEKB made headlines by hiring an experienced UBS team in Gstaad, as reported by finews.ch.
