The eventful history of the Zurich Racing Club (RVZ) started on May 24, 1872, at the «Zunfthaus zur Saffran.» Established Zurich citizens founded it to «cultivate the art of riding and promote interest in horses and performance by supporting useful endeavors.»

The focus of these «endeavors» – which has not changed to this day – is the organization of horse races and the preservation of noble thoroughbreds.
