Orell Fuessli Subsidiary Involved in Homeland Security Project
It's not typically headline-worthy when a company sends out a press release celebrating a contract win or successful bid. But exceptions arise when the sender or business partner is prominent.
The company in question develops digital identity solutions, though it's not widely recognized outside of electronic identification circles.
Start-Up With a 505-Year History
Procivis, founded in 2017, is a subsidiary of Orell Fuessli, a venerable publicly traded company that celebrated its 500th anniversary in 2019. Orell Fuessli is still primarily associated with books and banknotes rather than the digital sphere. Its prominent shareholder is the Swiss National Bank, holding one-third of its capital.
On Thursday, Procivis announced that its software solution, Procivis One, qualified under the Silicon Valley Innovation Program of the US Department of Homeland Security, created in response to the 2001 terrorist attacks.
«Meets Highest Data Protection Requirements»
Procivis One meets the highest data protection standards, is flexible, scalable, and can be effectively used by authorities and companies, the start-up stated in its release.
The company will now collaborate with other qualified firms under the US program to «develop digital open-source wallets and verifier components for decentralized digital identities,» as conveyed in the industry jargon.
