The new Swiss health insurance association is being established by 13 major health insurers. However, it has not yet been named. According to a statement on Thursday from KPT, it is expected to commence operations in early 2025.

The founding members of the association include Assura, Atupri, Concordia, CSS, EGK, Groupe Mutuel, Helsana, KPT, ÖKK, Sanitas, SWICA, Sympany, and Visana. Together, these insurers currently represent more than 90 percent of Switzerland's basic health insurance policyholders. Their memberships in Santésuisse and Curafutura will be terminated.

Open to Additional Members

This move marks a significant step towards a unified industry association. The advocacy aims to establish a balanced and broad-based representation. The goal is to collaboratively advocate for a sustainable, affordable, high-quality, and patient-centered healthcare system while fostering constructive dialogue. Further health insurers are invited to join the new organization, as stated.
