V-Bank Brings Art into Wealth Management Mandates
In collaboration with Cashlink Technologies and V-Bank, Arttrade offers the opportunity to integrate art as an asset class into wealth management. Through digital securities, asset managers and family offices connected to V-Bank can offer their clients regulated investments in portfolios featuring works by the world's most important artists.
"Nine out of ten asset managers recommend their clients diversify their portfolios with art, but very few have been able to offer a solution so far,» says David Riemer, co-founder and CEO of Arttrade. V-Bank, Cashlink, and Arttrade aim to change this with their cooperation.
Costly Securitization Eliminated
Arttrade, with an expert team, assembles individually curated art portfolios. Similar to a fund, these portfolios enable broad diversification within the asset class «art.» Through Cashlink's infrastructure, they are represented and made investable via electronic securities. Subsequently, these art portfolios can be ordered, held, and displayed in clients' accounts by asset managers and family offices through the existing systems at V-Bank.
By using electronic securities, costly securitization is eliminated, and the transaction and follow-up costs typically associated with alternative investments are significantly reduced. Arttrade manages the sourcing, management, insurance, custody, and sale of the artworks.
Foundation for Broader Integration of Art Created
«With this setup, we position ourselves as pioneers in providing digital investment solutions. We are laying the foundation for the broader integration of art into traditional wealth management,» says Raphael Neuberger, Head of Digital Assets at V-Bank, which also has a branch in Switzerland.
Art is one of the most exclusive and attractive alternative asset classes worldwide. The performance of the 100 most sought-after artists globally has outperformed the American S&P 500 index by around 9 percent per year for more than two decades.
