Helvetia Opens New Art Foyer in Basel
The opening of the Helvetia Art Foyers on the insurer's new campus on May 30 2024 in Basel is clear evidence of the group's efforts to make art and culture accessible to everyone.
As finews.art reported previously, this will be the third public platform on campus after the B1 Rooftop Bistro and the auditorium.

Art Prize Jubilee
The «Momentum» exhibition marks the launch of the new Helvetia Art Foyer and it shows the works of the 16 prize winners of the widely renowned Helvetia Art Prize.
Since 2004, the insurer has been supporting Swiss art school graduates, something that underscores its long-term commitment to the arts. Winners get 15,000 in prize money and a showing at the international Liste Art Fair in Basel.
Display Window Art
«We want to literally put art in the display windows. The broad window facade at the St. Alban and Engelgasse crossing offers a perspective on our current exhibitions and invites passers-by to enter, look, and get inspired by the magic inside», said Hedwig Ulmer, the head of the Swiss pensions business during the opening of the Art Foyer.
Diverse Works and Perspectives
The «Momentum» offers a view of the diversity and growth of the art prize winners in the past two decades.
The works are of 16 artists, including Kathrin Affentranger, Josse Bailly, and Yann Stéphane Biscaut, who reflect both past and present while also providing a visionary perspective of the future.
Lively Urbanity
A highlight of the new exhibition is indeed the broad window facade of the art foyer, which allows passers-by to glance at the art inside and spontaneously decide whether they want to enter or not.
The foyer is open on Thursdays from 16:00 to 20:00. Entry is free, something that ensures that the space will become a lively part of the urban goings-on in Basel.
- The exhibition will be held from May 30 to 29 August 2024 (closed on August 1) at the Helvetia Art Foyer, St. Alban-Anlage 26, 4052 Basel.
