Crypto Firm Grabs Zug Landmark
Digital investment firm Seba Crypto will move into Zug's former city hall, a 16th century building on the city's central Kolinplatz. Seba, which is already renting office space in crypto valley, will head for the three-story half-timbered townhouse in November, the city of Zug said in a statement on Wednesday.
The building is not only entrenched in local history but also rich in crypto history: three years ago, Zug's government convened there to approve bitcoin for payments of city services. Eighteen months ago, Zug decided to grant its inhabitants a blockchain-based digital identity.
Bitcoin Commune
The move underscores Seba's wish to establish itself locally as well as to convey history when it represents itself to clients and prospective customers. Led by ex-UBS banker Guido Buehler, Seba aims for a banking license this year, as finews.com reported.
Crypto loves history: late last year, bitcoin guru Niklas Nikolajsen splashed out on the Salesianum, a stately 18th century Zug lakeside home he aims to convert into a commune for Bitcoin Suisse co-workers and partners, as well as his growing family.
