Julius Baer: All the King's Men
5. David Durlacher

He is the head of a bid that has industry experts disagree strongly: either seen as a daring dash or rather over-ambitious, David Durlacher's push to open up the U.K. province for the Swiss private bank leaves nobody cold. The CEO of Julius Baer's U.K. unit has taken his bankers as far as Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh and even Belfast. And this piece of entrepreneurial enterprise was fostered during the shaky years of pre-Brexit. Durlacher, a son of British bankers, has yet to be rewarded with the handsome profits expected by his masters in Zurich. And the London branch recently has since some notable changes among its staff.
Pictet may well be interested in strenghthening the setup in the U.K., where it has been onshore since 2016. London is a key market, alongside Asia and Switzerland. One of the partners, Marc Pictet, has agreed to a major hiring effort in the U.K. and Collardi's old network would come in handy.
