Russian Bank Weighing Sale of Swiss Unit

Gazprombank (Switzerland) is looking into future options, including a sale, of its Swiss subsidiary by the end of the third quarter of 2022, it said in a statement Friday.

The bank's board of directors is looking «to explore potential strategic options for the bank’s future activities. These options include, but are not limited to, potential divestment of selected assets or the sale of the business as a whole,» the bank said.

As a main intermediary for energy supply payments, Gazprom was not excluded from the SWIFT payment network; an EU sanction imposed on most Russian banks as a consequence of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
