Cantonal Banks Elect New Chair

The 24 members of the Association of Swiss Cantonal Banks elected Bruno Thuerig to succeed Urs Mueller, who is retiring, according to an emailed statement. Thuerig is 60 years old and headed the Obwaldner Kantonalbank for two decades.

His predecessor shaped the association during his 10-year tenure. Thuerig term of office included major regulatory projects such as FIDLEG/FINIG and Basel III, which brought significant changes to the financial sector.

The association's general assembly was held physically in Pontresina in the Canton of the Grisons.
