Toronto-based Thomson Reuters is hiring Sarah Wilkinson as its chief information officer, a role for which she will move to Zug, Switzerland, from London, a source familiar with the matter told finews.com on Friday. Wilkinson was most recently CEO of NHS Digital in the U.K., and previously a top technology executive for Credit Suisse.

She is the second high-profile hire for Thomson Reuters in two years, after Kirsty Roth as its chief operations and technology officer last year. Roth, a powerful technologist and operations executive at Credit Suisse until 2015, is one of 11 Thomson Reuters executive directors and and officers.

Dramatic Boost

Roth and Wilkinson, named the most influential person in information technology earlier this year for her work with the NHS, represent a huge boost of technology expertise in Zug for Thomson Reuters. A spokeswoman for the company confirmed Wilkinson's hire, noting she is also running the Thomson Reuters' research division, TR Labs.

Though Thomson Reuters has space for several hundred people in Zug, the offices haven't been used to their full capacity: a 2018 deal led data analytics people to move to Refinitiv, a new entity founded by Thomson Reuters and Blackstone.
