Julius Baer is appointing Thorsten Hartmann (pictured below) to head its Basel office, effective April 1, it said in a statement on Monday. He follows Claude Scharowski, who is reducing his workload ahead of his upcoming retirement.

Over the past 17 years, Hartmann has held different positions at Credit Suisse. In his last role he led the bank’s business with rich clients in Switzerland’s northwest region.
