Ex-Julius Baer Trading Boss Heads for Consulting

The U.S. consulting firm is hiring Peter Gerlach as a senior adviser to its markets and wealth management clients in financial services, according to a Linkedin post by BCG's Swiss managing director Daniel Kessler. Gerlach ran Julius Baer's trading operations for nearly 14 years until 2019.

He spent nearly a year on strategic projects for the CEO, first Bernhard Hodler and later Philipp Rickenbacher. Notably, Gerlach sat on the board of Seba, representing a minority stake Julius Baer bought in the crypto bank two years ago. He cut ties to Julius Baer entirely in June, when he left the board of a foundation run by the Swiss wealth manager.

Under Gerlach, who sat on the bank's wider top management, Julius Baer's markets division became a major contributor to its earnings. He was succeeded in the job by Luigi Vignola, a structured products veteran.
