F10 Boss Heads for the Alps
Andermatt Swiss Alps Group, controlled by Samih Sawiris which operates the five-star Chedi in Andermatt, is poaching from SIX, the Swiss stock exchange operator. The hospitality company is hiring Thomas Landis as its new chief digital officer, effective on June 1, it said in a statement on Monday.
Landis was most recently in charge of F10, a financial technology hub backrolled by SIX and other traditional finance firms. He was also instrumental in the launch of payments app Paymit, which was later fused with Twint, the mobile payments app backed by Swiss banks.
The move is a blow to the SIX, which seems to be having trouble holding onto its digital specialists. Nine months ago, it abruptly lost the head of its digital exchange project SDX, Martin Halblaub. He was replaced temporarily in September by Thomas Kindler, SIX's head of securities and exchanges.
