SIX: High-Profile Departure

Juerg Weber, the head of payment services, is leaving the company at the end of the month, SIX said in a statement today. He decided to concentrate on his business mandates following the strategic decisions of the company.

The departure comes as no surprise. SIX opted to find a partnership for Weber’s division as it realigns its operations. Weber had joined the company in 2015. SIX recruited a new CEO outside the company, delivering a snub to potential successor within its ranks.

Dutch Replacement

Jos Dijsselhof, the Dutch chief operating officer and CEO ad interim at Euronext was appointed as successor for the outgoing executive Urs Ruegsegger. Weber was also said to have been a candidate.

Payment services under the guidance of Weber had become strongly based in e-commerce and omni-channel. The manager also pushed for the acquisitions of Aduno and VOeB-ZVD, a German network operator.

Deputy Promotion

Weber also was the driving force behind the relaunch of Twint. Weber is chairman of the joint-company behind the payment application supported by Switzerland’s banking industry.

Marc Schluep will take charge of payment services, SIX said. Schluep, Weber’s deputy, was head of organizational development. Previously, he was responsible for strategic development of SIX as head of corporate development.
